Optimization and Design Improvements of Marine High Capacity Direct Current Circuit Breakers

Abstract:

For the design of the DC 1 000 V marine high capacity two-break DC circuit breaker, the high capacity two-break DC circuit breaker is improved and optimized by increasing the contact gap, introducing the narrow-gap arc extinguishing technology with gas production function, and the magnetic blowing technology, and the experimental verification is conducted. The results show that the improved and optimized prototype of the high capacity two-break DC circuit breaker can not only effectively solve the problems of long arcing time during 40 kA short circuit breaking and critical load current breaking, but also address the practical engineering issues of large volume, high power consumption, and complex wiring caused by the use of multi-pole parallel and series technology in high voltage and large current applications.
